The Ferrari 488 Pista is Official. Here are the Specs and Photos

A Ferrari with track in its name

After the Ferrari release the video of its brand new machine some pictures of the car have been leaked on the internet, but now Ferrari makes official the 488 variant… the 488 Pista.

On that aftermentioned video where Ferrari teases us its new Prancing Horse, the 488 Pista “races alongside” some 488 Challange race cars and this shows basically what the purpose of this new 488. Hit the tracks as hard as possible.

With track in its name (Pista means track in Italian), the new Ferrari 488 Pista has the same heart of the 488 GTB but improved.

The twin-turbo 3.9 V8 now produces 720 horsepower (50 ponies more than the regular 488)and 770NM of torque. The acceleration from zero to 62 mph (0-100km/h) is as quick as 2.85 seconds, while to hit 124 mph (or 200 km/h) it takes 7.6 seconds. The top speed is 211 mph (340 km/h).

Talking about weight, the 488 Pista has 1280kg (2821lbs) when dry, about 90 kg (198lb) lighter than the 488 GTB.

The new Ferrari has gained much more than power, it also is aerodynamically better. The Design of the Pista counts on the aerodynamic S-Duct at the front as well as a rear blown spoiler higher and longer with an optimized shape. This translated into numbers is an impressive 20% increase in downforce compared to the 488 GTB.

Ferrari has made the new 488 to be an easy-to-ride Prancing Horse. “The objective was to make the car’s performance on the limit easier to reach and control.”

In other words, this means a lot of electronic help, from the Side-Slip Angle Control system helping in the corners to the Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, which for the first time ever helps in braking.
